What You'll Do as a CDL-A Driver

• Pick up and deliver containers from the port to locations across the island of Oahu.
• Work out of Honolulu Harbor container yards, where we hold interchange agreements with Matson, Pasha Hawaii, Aloha Marine Lines, NYK Lines and Young Brothers. Read how a Port of Honolulu drayage move works.
• Safely operate equipment including pallet jacks and forklifts, the same equipment behind our forklift delivery service.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of your equipment.
• Deliver to the businesses we serve: warehouses, distributors, stores and job sites from Honolulu to Kapolei.

Requirements

• Valid CDL-A license
• Valid TWIC card
• Minimum one year of commercial driving experience in Hawaii preferred
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

About the TWIC Card

Our drivers work inside Honolulu Harbor terminals, so a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) is required. TWIC is issued by the Transportation Security Administration after a background check, for workers who need access to secure areas of maritime facilities. You can start the application online or at a TWIC enrollment center, where you give fingerprints, a photo and identity documents, and the card is valid for five years (TSA).

Pre-Employment Screening

All CDL-A hires complete a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Federal rules also require employers to run a full pre-employment query of the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse before a CDL driver can perform safety-sensitive work, which needs your consent in the Clearinghouse (49 CFR 382.701). Registering for a Clearinghouse account before you apply speeds things up.
